A Telfair County man is in custody accused of killing his wife Sunday afternoon.

Jerry Robert Doyle, 62, called 911 to report his wife's death and deputies arrived at his Sugar Creek Road home outside McRae at about 2:20 p.m., said Greg Harvey, special agent in charge of the GBI's Eastman office.

"He met them at the front door and said he shot his wife," Harvey said.

Margaret Snyder, who is believed to be 10 years older than her husband, was shot three times during what Harvey called a domestic argument.

"We are trying to figure out the reasons why," he said.

Murder warrants are expected to be signed today against Doyle, Harvey said.
