Falcons part ways with QB Harrington

Published: March 5, 2008

The Atlanta Falcons released quarterback Joey Harrington today after just one year with the team, according to the team's Web site.

Harrington saw time in 12 games for the Falcons last season -- 10 of which he started -- completing 215-of-348 passes for 2,215 yards and seven touchdowns.

Harrington, the Falcons' starter at the beginning of the season, lost his job as the team's No. 1 quarterback several times throughout the year to backups Byron Leftwich -- a free agent -- and Chris Redman -- who was re-signed last week.
