Six people hurt in afternoon accident in Macon

Six people were taken to the hospital after two sport utility vehicles collided on Mercer University Drive at about 2 p.m. today.

Macon police are investigating the accident that happened at the intersection of Atwood Drive.

Macon-Bibb County firefighters were throwing sand on leaking transmission fluid and antifreeze that had poured onto the pavement.

Macon police officer Tracey Stanley said some of the victims were seriously hurt in the accident which blocked two lanes of traffic headed away from Macon Mall.
