Rodney Collins was named the new head football coach at Stratford today.

Collins replaces Mark Farriba, who left to take the same job at Prince Avenue Christian.

As assistant to Farriba last season, Collins served as Stratford's head coach for 15 years before leaving for an assistant job at Riverside Military in 2003.

Collins went 113-68-2 at Stratford. He won state titles in 1994, 1999 and 2000. He also won a state title at Briarwood in 1977 and coached at John Milledge.

“It is always very satisfying when you can hire someone with this depth of experience from within your ranks," said Stratford athletics director Grady Smith, who said the job drew interest from across the country. "It makes for a smooth transition.

Rodney Collins has enjoyed a long career at Stratford and Stratford students and families will benefit from his influence.”
