Two people died and several others were injured following two Friday traffic accidents.

Interstate 475 south was closed for a little more than two hours after a 2009 Jeep Laredo ran off the road near mile marker 2 at about 7:20 a.m. The sport utility vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Shawn Brown of Bronx, N.Y., struck a guardrail and rolled several times, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

A passenger, 19-year-old Anisha Warren, of Columbia, Mo., died after being ejected from the SUV. Shawn Michael Brown, 11 months, also of Columbia, Mo., was taken to the hospital, but died in the afternoon, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

Brown and passengers 7-year-old Michael Brown, 12-year-old Quayshawn Brown and 17-year-old Tishenna Samuel were taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where they were listed in stable condition Friday, he said.

Rena Brown, 40, was listed in critical condition, Jones said.

All the passengers are from Columbia, Mo., he said.

The single-vehicle crash remains under investigation.

No other fatalities were reported in the Middle Georgia area Thursday or Friday.

In Warner Robins, 50-year-old Eddie Ward was struck by a car while trying to cross Watson Boulevard on foot at 4:14 a.m., according to the Warner Robins police.

Ward was walking southbound and outside the crosswalk area on his way to the Flash Foods convenience store, according to a police news release.

At the same time, 21-year-old Christopher J. Reynolds of Warner Robins was driving on Watson Boulevard near its intersection with Carl Vinson Parkway. Witnesses told police Reynolds left the scene in his vehicle after hitting Ward, according to the release.

Officers quickly found Reynolds on Watson Boulevard near Nelson Drive.

Ward sustained injuries to his lower extremities and was taken to the Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition Friday, according to the release.Reynolds was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation and charges are pending.
