A Macon police report on the discovery of the body of 23-year-old Macon woman, released Thursday, offers few clues to the cause of her death.

An autopsy performed by the medical examiner on Crystal Morgan’s body Wednesday proved inconclusive. And Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said it could be two or three months until test results are back that could offer further clues about the death.

James Sessions Jr. discovered the body in the woods while walking along a cut-through located across Pio Nono Avenue from Bells Terrace, according to the report.

Sessions recognized Morgan because she was the daughter of his friend Willie C. Morgan, according to the report.

Sessions then attempted to contact Willie Morgan at his house but was unable to reach him, the report stated. He dialed 911 on a cell phone he borrowed at the T&A Food Mart nearby.

After police arrived, Sessions was taken to the detective bureau for questioning.

Macon police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said Sessions was brought in as a witness.

“We can’t label anybody a suspect or not a suspect until we know a crime is committed,” she said.

Jones said Melissa Sims, the medical examiner, could not find “anything obvious” that caused Morgan’s death.

“We didn’t see any bullet wounds or puncture wounds or anything of that nature,” he said.
