A Friday night shooting and stabbing near the 5700 block of Satterfield Drive resulted from the same altercation, Macon police said Tuesday.
Christopher Wyne, 21, of Macon, was stabbed in the upper back and torso about 10:30 p.m., police Sgt. Melanie Hofmann said.
Nolan Flint, 33, of Macon, was shot in the buttocks while walking on Satterfield Drive, according to police.
Warrants have been issued for 32-year-old Willie James Rogers and 28-year-old Alfred Lee Gary for criminal attempt to commit murder stemming from the stabbing, Hofmann said.
Flint told police the shooting was prompted by a fight at Village Green Park on July 9 involving several members of the Crips gang, according to a Macon police report.
“It has not been verified that it was gang-related,” Hofmann said.
Police recovered several shell casings, a shotgun and a tote bag of marijuana near a house in the 5700 block of Satterfield Drive, according to police.
The shooting and stabbing occurred during a weekend when five shootings and a stabbing were reported, according to Macon police reports.
But Hofmann said the spurt of violence isn’t a sign that Macon will revisit the same conditions as were present Aug. 25, 2008, when six shootings were reported in a day and two people were killed.
“These were shootings surrounding specific incidents this weekend,” Hofmann said. “(People) chose to use lethal force to settle minute arguments.
“Thankfully, none of them were (fatal).”
Wyne is listed in stable condition at The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Flint was treated and released from Coliseum Northside Hospital, Hofmann said.
In response to the string of shootings in August 2008, Macon police launched a task force to investigate the violence. As a result, many people connected with the shootings were arrested.
Jose Mendez, 17, of Putnam Street, was arrested in September 2008 as a part of the task force’s efforts. Mendez pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated assault in connection with a shooting at a Burger King on Aug. 30, 2008, prosecutor John Regan said.
He was sentenced to serve eight years on probation, between 120 and 180 days in a detention center and have no contact with his gang, Regan said.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Rogers or Gary is asked to call the police at 751-7500 or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at (877) 68-CRIME.
