At least one teen was killed Sunday when a Mississippi church bus carrying a youth group to Macon overturned.

The bus, from First Baptist Church in Shreveport, La., blew a tire and rolled three times about 10:20 a.m. near Meridian, Miss., trapping at least two people underneath, Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler III said. Teenagers and adults were on board and more than 20 were reported injured.

The group was traveling to Mercer University to take part in a weeklong event called “Passport,” according to the church’s Web site. The site also notes that one youth has died.

Passport, according to its Web site, has locations throughout the country that brings kids together for Christian outreach projects in local communities. This is the third year it has been in operation at Mercer, with six sessions scheduled for June and July.
