Powerful thunderstorms Monday afternoon downed trees and power lines in Bibb County and across Middle Georgia, according to emergency dispatchers and the National Weather Service.

Firefighters responded to a house fire on Rivoli Ridge Drive about 7 p.m. after lightning struck the home.

In Dublin, lightning struck several hay bales near Buckeye Farm and caused a fire there, said Jessica Fieux, a weather service forecaster.

Trees partially blocked one eastbound lane of Interstate 16 in Laurens County, a Georgia State Patrol dispatcher said.

Crawford County received hail as big as an inch in diameter, Fieux said.
