The exit onto Interstate 75 southbound from Interstate 16 has re-opened after a log truck overturned this afternoon, causing standstill traffic in the area.

The I-75 northbound exit remained open, but traffic was extremely slow along I-16 in Macon.

Crews continue to work to remove the pine logs and other debris left by the accident.

Macon Police Officer Jason Bray said it’s not clear how the accident occurred.

He said the truck driver, Billy Burgamy of Eatonton, told officers he remembers coming into the curve and then being on his roof. Burgamy has been taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with cuts on his head.

The truck and logs blocked both lanes as I-16 merges onto I-75 southbound.
