A Macon woman was hit by a car Thursday morning as she was crossing Jeffersonville Road near Hitchcock Road at about 8:30 a.m.

Amirrah Giddens, 28, was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, said Lt. George Meadows of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigator on the scene said she was complaining of injuries to her legs and head after she was hit by the mirror on the driver’s side of a maroon Cadillac traveling eastbound. Giddens was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

The clerk at the Citgo station at the junction of Ga. 57 and U.S. 80 said Giddens frequently cut through a path across the street to make her way to the convenience store.

The driver, whose name was not released, will not be charged in the accident, Meadows said.

He told the investigator he saw her slow down as she crossed into the middle turn lane and the driver thought she was going to stop but she kept on walking.
