A 48-year-old Macon man has been charged with breaking intosix cars in the downtown Macon area, according to the Macon police.
Investigators caught Michael Booze, of Applewood Street, as he was leaving the scene of a car break-in in the 600 block of Cherry Street about 9:30 a.m. Friday, according to a Monday police news release.
Booze had in his possession a GPS system that had been stolen from a truck parked next to 606 Cherry St., according to the release.
Police say he admitted to breaking into the truck and the theft. Booze also admitted he broke into six other vehicles in the downtown area — on New Street, Orange Street, Third Street, Walnut Street and Hemlock Street — between Jan. 12 and Friday, according to the release.
Police say all of the thefts involved GPS systems. Booze also admitted to selling the stolen GPS systems to the owner of Bray Electric Company, 430 Astor St., and to an employee, according to the release.
The owner, 59-year-old John Henry Bray, and 49-year-old Barney White, an employee, both admitted they bought the GPS systems and are charged with theft by receiving stolen property, according to the release. Booze is being held at the Bibb County jail on $10,400 bond, according to the release. Bray was released Friday on $1,200 bond, according to the release. White, of Shi Place, is being held at the jail on charges not related to the case, according to the release.
