Mercer University celebrates homecoming this weekend

Homecoming for Mercer University has come early this year.

As part of a new tradition, Mercer’s homecoming has moved from winter to fall to kick off the new basketball season.

Students have been celebrating all week, and alumni are expected to arrive on campus today.

The public is invited to join in on tonight’s celebrations, which include:

• A stationary float competition at 7;

• A bonfire and pep rally on Bear Hill at 8; and

• Fireworks, which will conclude the evening.

The Mercer men’s basketball team will play Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. Saturday at the University Center. The game is sold out.
