Macon City Councilman Charles Jones was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon, said family friend Leon Jones.

The councilman had collapsed Monday at a council committee meeting. His heart and breathing stopped after he suffered what appeared to be a seizure. Macon-Bibb County Fire Chief Marvin Riggins, who was at the meeting, was able to revive Jones after performing CPR.

Jones, a 55-year-old who has a history of diabetes, has been at The Medical Center of Central Georgia undergoing various tests since the incident occurred.

Leon Jones, the Bibb County coroner, said his friend of 31 years would be taking it easy before getting back to his duties as a pastor and elected official.

“But he is eager to return to work, and he is doing great,” Jones said.
