A 62-year-old Thomaston woman died Monday following a wreck at the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and Holley Road in west Bibb County, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Linda Bennett was driving a 2008 Honda Civic east on Eisenhower Parkway when 57-year-old J.C. Lawson, of Upson County, failed to yield the right of way while turning left onto Eisenhower from Holley Road about 4:30 p.m., according to a sheriff's office news release.

Lawson's 2000 Ford Contour struck Bennett's Honda in the passenger side, causing it to leave the road and hit a tree, according to the release.

Bennett was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where she died just before 6 p.m., according to the release.

Lawson was not injured, said Lt. George Meadows, sheriff's office spokesman.

No charges have been filed.
