Macon police are investigating a one-car wreck near the downtown intersection of Second and Mulberry streets about 8 p.m. Saturday.

Nathaniel Newby, 72, of Macon, was driving south on Second when he lost control of his 1991 Ford Thunderbird, struck part of a light pole and the vehicle overturned, police spokesman Lt. Eric Walker said.

Newby was transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia with injuries that were not life threatening, Walker said.

There were no passengers. Charges may be pending, according to police.
