A 93-year-old woman was killed Thursday in a traffic accident shortly after 3 p.m. in front of Kroger at 4650 Forsyth Road in Macon.
Authorities said Elma Tompkins, of the 500 block of Byars Drive, was attempting to make a left turn from the Kroger parking lot onto Forsyth Road when she pulled in front of a black Ford transport van traveling southbound.
Tompkins, who was driving a cream-colored older model Ford Escort, was broadsided by the van, which had Bleckley County plates and is owned by Quality Trans Inc.
The driver of the van and three passengers were transported to The Medical Center of Central Georgia. Details of their injuries were not available.
