Macon City Council adopts commission to carry out the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream

The Macon City Council on Tuesday voted to approve the creation of a commission that will advocate for nonviolence, justice and racial understanding in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The Martin Luther King Jr. Commission will commemorate King's life and work through community programming and activities geared toward youth.

In other news, the council proclaimed May 2008 Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month in Macon.
