@BR Box Type bold lede colon:City of residence: Perry

Occupation: Librarian, media specialist

Question: Where were you raised?

Answer: Soperton

Question: How long have you been a librarian?

Answer: I’ve been at Morningside Elementary School since 1990. I have been a librarian since 1983, before that I was an art teacher.

Question: Why did you become a librarian?

Answer: You always think librarians love books. While that’s very true, I also love the organization of the library and helping people find books. It’s very gratifying to work with the children.

Question: You’re currently directing “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and “The Gift of the Magi” for Perry Players Community Theatre. How many plays have you directed at Perry Players?

Answer: Seven. I directed a few a long time ago, then took a few years off to focus on raising a family.

Question: How did you get into directing?

Answer: I think a lot of directors have a passion for wanting to direct particular shows, and I have always wanted to direct “Harvey.” When I came back, I really wanted to direct “Our Town.”

Question: Have you ever acted in any of the plays?

Answer: In high school and one play with Perry Players. I played a maid who sang very badly.

Question: How did you get involved with Perry Players?

Answer: When I first moved to Perry in the early 70’s, I wanted to join community activities to get to know people. Perry Players had just formed, so it was perfect. At first I helped backstage and then eventually produced.

Question: What are some of your other hobbies?

Answer: I like to read, paint and go to movies. I would love to garden if I had a place to.

Question: Have you ever seen a play on Broadway?

Answer: In high school we had a trip to Washington D.C. and New York. We saw “Camelot” with Julie Andrews, Richard Burton and Richard Harris.
