WARNER ROBINS — A mother and her live-in-boyfriend are charged with aggravated assault after multiple bruises were found from head to toe on her 3-month-old boy, police said.

Tiffany Shierling, 23, and James Dustin Williams, 22, of Centerville, also were charged with cruelty to children, said Houston County sheriff’s Capt. Jerry Stewart.

The couple was arrested Tuesday at a Pulaski County residence, Stewart said.

The infant was taken to The Children’s Hospital in Macon on Nov. 12 on the advice of a Warner Robins physician after the mother brought the child in about the bruising, Stewart said.

The bruising was evident from head to toe on the infant, Stewart said.

Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Adrienne Hilton said Shierling told authorities she thought the infant bruised easily. The mother allegedly told authorities the infant “woke up that way.”

Medical personnel examining the child found no health-related issues to have caused the bruising but instead indicated the bruising was inflicted upon the boy, Stewart said.

Williams is believed responsible for the bruises to the infant, while the mother is believed to have looked the other way, Stewart said.

The infant was placed in foster care by the Department of Family and Children Services. Marcus Jackson, an investigator for child protective services, worked closely with the sheriff’s office in the investigation, Stewart said.

Shierling and Williams were being held at the Houston County jail.
