A Warner Robins man was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty Friday to beating another man to death in 2006.

Thomas Radford, 38, was sentenced by Houston County Superior Court Judge Edward D. Lukemire. Radford pleaded guilty to murder in the beating death of Ronald Fordham, 34, also of Warner Robins.

Fordham was discovered May 26, 2006, by his roommate at a Smith Street residence when he went to wake him for work. Fordham. who was bleeding from his head, had been badly beaten. A bloody metal pipe, believed to be the murder weapon, was found near the body. Fordham died two days later from his injuries.

Radford was also accused of assaulting two women in separate incidents on May 30, 2006.

All three assaults were believed to be motivated by a need for cash to feed Radford’s crack cocaine addiction, Houston County assistant district Attorney David Cooke said in a telephone interview.

Radford was indicted on murder and other charges of burglary, armed robbery, aggravated assault and aggravated battery in connection with the three assaults. The other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement to the murder charge, Cooke said.

Cooke said he felt the life sentence was appropriate.

“This guy didn’t care at all about human life,” Cooke said.
