closeMossy Creek Middle School celebrated the school’s two softball county championships at a banquet last week.
Mossy Creek’s eighth-grade team finished with an overall record of 12-1. The team also won the county championship as seventh-graders, and the players finished their middle school ball career with a 25-1 record and the distinction of being back-to-back champions.
Carson Carriker was selected for the Lady Gator Award, which is similar to a most valuable player award for the eighth-grade team.
Carriker was also a member of the Warner Robins American Little League World Series championship team.
“It is great to know that people think of you like that,” Carriker said.
Seventh-grader Sabrina Doucette was selected Lady Gator this year for her team. Doucette pitched for the seventh-graders and was an asset on offense and defense, her coaches said.
Doucette, also a member of the WRALL team, said the award surprised her. “There were two other members that I thought might get it, so I was really proud of getting the award,” she said.
Doucette said she wants to win the county championship again next year.
“You just have to take it game by game,” she said.
