Zoning meetings planned

The Houston County Board of Education will hold meetings Oct. 27 and Nov. 19 to discuss zoning for the 2010-11 school year.

The Oct. 27 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Houston County High School theater, and the Nov. 19 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Warner Robins High School theater.

All high schools will be affected due to the opening of Veterans High School in August 2010. “Slight adjustments” are proposed for six other schools: Eagle Springs Elementary, Quail Run Elementary, Huntington Middle, Northside Middle, Thomson Middle and Warner Robins Middle, according to a news release.

The zoning adjustments are expected to prevent overcrowding and meet demographic requirements of a court order. Visit www.hcbe.net for more information.
