Fort Valley State University President Larry Rivers has been named a “Role Model President.”

“This was a great honor for me and for our university,” Rivers said in a news release. “I accepted on behalf of all of Fort Valley State’s great administrative team. Our progress has come from all of us working together to build a solid future and with enormous help from our faculty and staff.”

Sarwan Dhir, an associate professor at FVSU and director of the university’s Center for Biotechnology, nominated Rivers.

“Dr. Rivers is one of the most intelligent, charismatic, young dynamic leaders,” Dhir said in a news release. “He is a role model for college presidents nationwide.”

FVSU professor receives award

Fort Valley State University professor Young W. Park recently received the Land O’Lakes Inc. Award.

Park said in a news release that this is one of the most prestigious awards given by the American Dairy Science Association. It is given to an outstanding scientist who has made notable contributions to the scientific discovery and improvement of dairy manufacturing, dairy production and the dairy industry in general.

Park received the award July 14 in Montreal at a joint conference, which included the American Dairy Science Association, American Society of Animal Science and Canadian Animal Science Association.
