Tax the churches

I agree with “Its My Money.” Why not tax the churches?

Why are we having police officers direct traffic at the Baptist church on Houston Lake Road? I’m sure the officers are being paid by the church, but are they reimbursing the city for the use of the city vehicles?

Why should church people get priority when there is a working traffic light? They should take their time and wait their turn, just like I have to wait my turn.

Marshallville police

How can the Marshallville police patrol outside of the city limits? I live on Marshallville Highway in Perry and during the last three weeks, the police have pulled over more than 20 cars when they are past the city limits sign.

Is this legal? If not, how are they getting away with it?

Cox problems

Are other Cox high-speed modem customers in the Feagin Mill Road-Moody Road area having trouble with slow service during certain hours of the afternoon and evening?

Cruel and callous

On a Thursday morning, a blue Toyota pulled over at Sullivan Road and Dunbar Road and deliberately put out a medium-sized turtle and then took off.

I jumped out of my car to rescue him, having to wait for two cars, which missed the turtle by inches.

I checked him out and he looked OK. I took him to a field of grass behind the road.

It’s hard to comprehend that anyone in this world could be so cruel and callous as to leave a defenseless little creature on the side of the road.

Whoever you are, do me a favor and don’t breed. The world is too full of mean-spirited people already.

What’s Larry done?

Tell me one thing that Larry Walker has done for the city of Warner Robins. True, he did a lot for Perry, but he did not do a thing for Warner Robins in my opinion.

Response to born free

It saddens me to think that there are people out there like you. How can you even look at yourself in the mirror after saying what you said about animals?

We are here to take care of them. I had a house fire about two months ago and lost a loving family member. Yes, it was a dog. You are one heartless person.

Involvement

In regards to the reductions of the penalties involving clubs selling alcohol to minors. Are any of the owners or partners of the establishments related to anyone employed by the city or involved in politics in Houston County in any way?

Gas issues

Gas prices have nothing to do with supply and demand, according to Bill O’Reilly’s show. It’s controlled by people pumping money into Wall Street. They do this every summer and holiday and make big money. I suggest you write your congressmen and see if Congress can do something about these people investing and manipulating oil prices.

Tomatoes

When you slice store-bought tomatoes, pour lemon juice and then marinate them for a few minutes and they will taste homegrown. The problem is they have no acid, and the lemon juice adds acid. They will taste great.

Sunday alcohol

Instead of the county and the city of Warner Robins raising taxes, why don’t they just allow restaurants to sell alcohol on Sunday in Warner Robins? It would definitely help the revenue and maybe avoid raising taxes. The base and Centerville wouldn’t get all the money and put the burden on taxpayers.

GM cars

Call up U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall and ask why they gave $68 billion to General Motors when they knew they were going bankrupt?

And they aren’t making American cars anyway. I went to buy a pickup truck and they were all made in Mexico, except one, which was made in Canada.

You could go to Toyota dealers and buy a pickup made just in the United States.

Rainy Day Woes response

Oh my God, I have seen everything now. So what if there’s not a covered area over the walkway. These kids shouldn’t even be driving to school. It should be a privilege for seniors in the senior year. If they get a little wet, oh well, too bad, too sad.

Reserve funds

I saw a month or two back that the Houston County Board of Education had a $8-9 million reserve fund and then they reduced the fund by $100K. Where is this reserve fund and how many other reserve funds does the county have that I suppose us taxpayers put up?

Later school start

If Carpenter and the board really want to save money, they should start the school year the day after Labor Day. They could save all of that air conditioning they use in August that they don’t need to be burning.

Warning system

Can I get an update on the tornado warning system. What system are they going to choose?

Parking lot

I am not condoning him for changing his story, but it doesn’t make him a criminal because he’s asking. At least he’s asking people and not robbing people. Its up to us whether we want to be a blessing to this individual or not.
