CENTERVILLE — The city is looking for a new fire chief after Ken Mathews resigned last week.

Mathews, who had been with the city’s fire department about two years, submitted his resignation to city officials on July 1, City Administrator Patrick Eidson said Wednesday. The resignation was effective immediately.

“His resignation letter stated personal reasons,” Eidson said, “and he didn’t divulge those.”

Assistant Fire Chief Jason Jones has taken over as interim chief until a full-time replacement is hired.
