WARNER ROBINS — A 77-year-old man died Tuesday after he was apparently shot by accident by his friend at a Houston County home near Warner Robins.

Luke Jackson Jr. was shot once in the thigh about lunchtime Tuesday in the yard of his home at 1101 Feagin Mill Road and was transported to Houston Medical Center, Houston County sheriff’s Capt. Robert Clark said.

Jackson later died of his injuries, Clark said.

Garell White, 47, of Elko, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct, Clark said.

White was being held without bond Tuesday at the Houston County jail in Perry.

Jackson, White and two other mutual friends were drinking beer and liquor when they decided to show off some weapons.

The semi-automatic handgun was discharged twice by White, with one bullet striking Jackson, Clark said. From evidence gathered at the scene, the shooting appears to have been accidental, Clark said.
