Theophilus Ministries of Byron, a nonprofit organization, is conducting a fundraising event Saturday to help with the medical expenses of Robert M.L. Davis Jr.

Robert, 4, was born with pulmonary atresia, a congenital heart-lung problem where no pulmonary valve exists in the heart, so blood can’t flow from the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery and on to the lungs. He has had a series of surgeries both in Atlanta and in California, and lives in Kathleen with his grandparents, M.L. and Catherine Holland.

Bryan Rigby, head of the ministry, said members will be at the Ga. 49 exit in Byron and Ga. 247 exit off Interstate 75 to collect donations from passers-by. The event is scheduled to take place between 9 a.m.-3 p.m., he said.
