The leadership of the Technical College System of Georgia, Southern Polytechnic State University and the University System of Georgia met May 21 to sign an agreement that expands articulation between the TCSG and SPSU.
Technical college Commissioner Ron Jackson, Southern Polytechnic President Lisa Rossbacher, university system Chief Operating Officer Rob Watts and presidents from 22 technical colleges added their signatures to the agreement that allows technical college students to apply their associate degree credits to one of five technology-focused baccalaureate degrees at Southern Polytechnic, based in Marietta.
To qualify, students will have to graduate in designated programs from any of the 22 technical colleges that are regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The five degrees technical college graduates are eligible to transfer to at Southern Polytechnic are industrial engineering technology, mechanical and electromechanical engineering technology, and bachelors of applied science in manufacturing process, information technology or management.
“We are very pleased that our students at Middle Georgia Technical College now have this opportunity,” said Ivan Allen, president of Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins. “We currently have articulation agreements with several other four-year schools and this just gives our students one more option to further their education beyond Middle Georgia Technical College.”
Technical colleges eligible for this credit transfer program under the articulation agreement include Albany Technical College, Albany; Athens Technical College, Athens; Atlanta Technical College, Atlanta; Augusta Technical College, Augusta; Central Georgia Technical College, Macon; Chattahoochee Technical College, Marietta; Columbus Technical College, Columbus; Coosa Valley Technical College, Rome; DeKalb Technical College, Clarkston; Griffin Technical College, Griffin; Gwinnett Technical College, Lawrenceville; Middle Georgia Technical College, Warner Robins; North Georgia Technical College, Clarkesville; North Metro Technical College, Acworth; Northwestern Technical College, Rock Springs; Savannah Technical College, Savannah; Southeastern Technical College, Vidalia; Southwest Georgia Technical College, Thomasville; Swainsboro Technical College, Swainsboro; Valdosta Technical College, Valdosta; West Central Technical College, Waco; and West Georgia Technical College, LaGrange.
