The Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) Foundation awarded $7,700 in scholarships to 18 students at the Fall Quarter Awards Day ceremony. Cash awards were presented to students to help with costs associated with furthering their education, including tuition, books, fees and supplies.

Students selected for scholarships include Shara Dawson, an electronics student from Warner Robins, who received the Flint Energies Foundation Scholarship; Samantha McCrory, an accounting student from Warner Robins, who won the Warner Robins Rotary Club Scholarship; and Vonda Belcher, an administrative office technology student from Hawkinsville, who won the Way Family Hawkinsville Scholarship.

The Billy G. Edenfield Scholarship was awarded to Jeffrey Hoover, an aviation maintenance technology student from Warner Robins.

Cosmetology student Aleisha Campbell of Perry received the cosmetology department scholarship, and Elizabeth Cooley, a practical nursing student from Bonaire, received the Danyel B. Allen Scholarship. The BB&T Bank Phi Beta Lambda Scholarship was awarded to Theresa Watkins, an administrative office technology student from Warner Robins, and the Medical Assisting Scholarship was awarded to Kimbaya Hampton of Ashburn.

The scholarship process is organized by the Financial Aid office at the college. After applications are submitted, a committee reviews the applicants to make award decisions.

The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the college and its students by supplementing available state resources with private funding to help further the college’s mission of contributing to the economic and educational development of the community.

A large portion of funds raised by the foundation are earmarked specifically for student scholarships.

All donations to the MGTC Foundation are tax-deductible. For more information on the MGTC Foundation, call 988-6800, extension 7201, or e-mail foundation@middlegatech.edu.
