Guidelines for free and reduced-price school meals

Households with incomes that fall within federal guidelines qualify for free or reduced-price school meals for children enrolled in public school. The USDA guidelines are based on household size and annual income.

Those who qualify are urged to apply today, and applications are available at all Houston County schools.

Guidelines for the 2008-09 school year are based on household income. If income is equal to or less than the amount listed based on household size, the student would automatically qualify for either free or reduced-price meals.

Federal guidelines are: one in household, income of $19,240; two in household, income of $25,900; three in household, income of $32,560; four in household, income of $39,220; five in household, income of $45,880; six in household, income of $52,540; seven in household, income of $59,2001; eight in household, income of $65,860; each additional person. add $6,660.
