WARNER ROBINS -- Items left on top of an active stove burner caused a house fire that sent smoke looming over Watson Boulevard and Pleasant Hill Road, authorities said.
The Warner Robins Fire Department responded to the fire at 713 Miller St. after receiving a call at 11:10 a.m.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire, authorities said. According to the fire department's report, neighbors said it appeared as though someone had been moving into the house the day before.
Warner Robins fire Capt. James Franklin said authorities were still trying to contact the owners of the property.
The kitchen and roof were damaged by flames while the rest of the house suffered smoke damage, he said.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, he said.
