Game balls

Ÿ Maurice Dudley, Warner Robins: The senior quarterback doesn’t throw the ball a whole lot, but he had two huge completions Friday. The first set up a touchdown, and the second was a 47-yard game-winning touchdown to Jonathan Jackson with 1:59 left to play in the Demons’ 21-20 upset over second-ranked Northside.

Ÿ Terrance Gore, Jones County: The senior rushed for 253 yards and four touchdowns in the Greyhounds’ 42-35 win over Lee County.

Ÿ Altovise Harris, Baldwin: Harris rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the Braves’ 27-7 region-championship clinching win over Washington County.

Ÿ Marquez Lemon, Stratford: Lemon rushed for a season-high 233 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-19 loss to Tattnall Square.

Ÿ Jonquez Sanders, Taylor County: Sanders rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Pacelli. It’s Sanders’ second consecutive 200-yard game.

You might have missed

It wasn’t a great night to be a highly ranked Middle Georgia team. Northside, Westside and Washington County — all top five teams in their respective classes — lost.

What we learned

Football games are four quarters and rivalry games aren’t over until the final horn sounds. Warner Robins proved that with its 21-point fourth quarter in a 21-20 win over Northside.

Looking ahead

Ÿ Putnam County at Central, Thursday: Central needs a win to stay alive in the playoffs. The Chargers need a win and a Greene County loss to get in the playoffs. If they lose to Putnam County, they will need Greene to lose and Southwest to win to get into a tie for fourth in the region.

Ÿ Colquitt County at Northside: The loss to Warner Robins hurts, but Northside can still clinch the GHSA Region 1-AAAAA championship with a win over the Packers.

Ÿ Warner Robins at Lowndes: The Demons had their biggest win of the season, but they will likely need to also beat Lowndes — unless Houston County can upset Valdosta — to reach the playoffs.

Ÿ Greene County at Northeast: Greene County clinches a playoff spot with a win, while Northeast can tie for first in GHSA Region 4-AA with a win.

Ÿ Jefferson County at Dublin: Dublin has won two straight over the Warriors, including a win in the second round of the playoffs in 2007. The Irish’s win last year clinched a region championship.

Ÿ Upson-Lee at Jones County: The Knights have played much better in recent weeks. The Greyhounds can enter into a three-way tie for the final playoff spot with a win and a loss by Hardaway (playing Westside) and Bainbridge (playing Thomas County Central).

Ÿ Howard vs. Southwest: Southwest needs a win over Howard and losses by Central and Greene County to enter into a three-way tie for final playoff spot in the region.

Ÿ Burke County at West Laurens: The Raiders can clinch their first playoff appearance since 2005 with a win over the Bears.
