THE STAR
Josh Nesbitt. The Georgia Tech quarterback rushed for two touchdowns, including the game-winner Saturday. That final touchdown came in overtime, just one play after the Yellow Jackets decided to convert a key fourth-down on another quarterback dive.
KEY MOMENT
Morgan’s sack. With 1:07 remaining in regulation, defensive end Derrick Morgan came away with a key sack on quarterback Riley Skinner. Elusive for much of the game, Skinner could not get away from Morgan as the Demon Deacons tried to drive for late score to upset the Yellow Jackets. Corralled at Georgia Tech’s 40, the sack forced Wake Forest to punt. On the ensuing Georgia Tech drive, the Yellow Jackets held onto the ball to force overtime.
KEY DECISION
Gutsy fourth down. With the Yellow Jackets sitting on the Wake Forest 5, and in a fourth-and-inches situation, head coach Paul Johnson decided to go all in and attempt a fourth-down conversion. After watching the team go 0-for-4 on fourth-downs during regulation, he left his kicker on the sidelines and called on Nesbitt for perform a quarterback dive up the middle. The play was successful, and led to Nesbitt’s 3-yard touchdown run moments later.
QUOTE OF GAME
“You got to play to win. If we can’t get a half a yard, then we probably didn’t deserve to win.”
