THE STAR

Jonathan Dwyer. The Yellow Jackets B-back had a career day Saturday, turning in his most prolific rushing total of the season. The junior had 186 yards on 22 carries and rushed for three touchdowns.

KEY MOMENT

Snap count. With 1:14 remaining in the third quarter, Georgia Tech quarterback Josh Nesbitt was able to call the Commodores offsides on a key fourth-and-short situation. With the ball at the Vanderbilt 6, the penalty moved the ball to the 3 and Dwyer scored his second touchdown of the game one play later. That score gave the Yellow Jackets a 35-31 lead they had would not relinquish.

KEY DECISION

Personnel changes. After allowing 257 total yards in the first half, the Yellow Jackets made key alterations to their defense after halftime that limited Vanderbilt’s production. Through the third quarter, the Commodores added 90 additional yards and were held to just a field goal.

QUOTE OF GAME

“Well, I hope it was my count that got them to jump offsides. Whatever it was, I’m glad they jumped.”

— Nesbitt, on his hard count that got Vanderbilt to jump offsides
