The 2009 Middle Georgia USBC Senior champions have been determined with the completion of the annual tournament. The competition was divided into five categories — Class A (ages 70-and-older), Class B (ages 65-69), Class C (ages 60-64), Class D (ages 55-59) and Class E (ages 50-54).
In Class A, the handicap singles and all events titles were secured by Charles Tucker (male) and Janette Daniell (female). The doubles titles went to Carey Carter and Annylis Tomblin (male) and Janette and Robert Daniell (mixed). In Class B, Robert Snead captured the male singles and all events titles. The equivalent female titles went to Jan Collier. The doubles titles went to Larry Elbrecht and O Dave Ware (male) and Collier and Tucker (mixed).
Other winners were: Class C: singles and all events — Johnnie Pryor (male) and Virginia Kinchen (female) and doubles — Lloyd Britt and Dwayne Yoder (male), Sandra Harris and Kinchen (female) and Harris and Snead (mixed); Class D: singles and all events — John Reed (male) and Delfina Anna Spencer (female) and doubles — Henry Owens and Reed (male) and Pryor and Spencer (mixed); Class E — singles and all events - Jerry Dudley (male) and doubles — Bill Haberin and Jeff Herman (male).
NINTH PERFECT GAME RECORDED
Bob Chamblin became the ninth person to achieve perfection this year when he rolled his sixth 300 in the middle game of his three-game set (738) in the Tuesday Peterson Point league. The 51-year-old has been bowling for 31 years starting at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. Chamblin is retired from the Air Force and currently works for Standard Technology as a contractor at Robins Air Force Base. He used a 15-pound Columbia Momentum Swing ball.

The Georgia State 600 Club for women and its associated tournament were recently held in Griffin, Georgia. Carolyn Helmick placed first in the Handicap Division with a 669 total. She also tied for second in the Scratch Division with a 661 series. Jan Daniell was reelected as President of the organization for 2010-2011 season.
MACON HONOR ROLL
The Commercial Ten Pin bowlers continue to shine — Al Nunez (795), Corey Conger (725/289 game), Bill Amaral (707) and Kelvin Jones (703). A trio of bowlers scored in the Outsiders league — Ronnie Hill (769/279 game), Bryant Saffold (749) and Matthew Beeman (736). Wednesday night belonged to Todd Manning (731/288 game), Cassius Williams (708), Trey Smith (705) and Kathy Smith (607). Thursday highs went to Chad McCormick (767/278 game), Jerod Dumas (738/278 game), Richard Young (729/278 game), Joe Gary (703), Fred Myers (703), Herbie Morris (700), Trellis Hamilton (627), Diane England (600) and Bobby Cunard (276 game). E.T. Stanley (726/278 game) was on fire on Sunday night. Terry Johnson (782 and 728/279 game) continues his excellence in multiple leagues. Karley Lamb starred in two leagues with sets of 626, 617 and 614.

On the men’s side, other top scores went to William Smith (697), Rickey Beddingfield (692), Doug Cox (691), Ken Long (691), Johnnie Pryor (679), Jeremy Patterson (678), Tony Clark (676), Latrone James (676) and Gary Wimberly (675). Added high scores for the ladies came from Saundra Parks (583) and Donna Maynard (577). Senior superlatives were Terry Campbell (650), David Hutcherson (650), Royce Chambers (636/262 game), Larry Myers (604), Charles Rogers (601), Charles Carter (600), Marlee Shook (570/226 game) and Sandra Fraley (560). Highlighting the teen group were Matthew Adams (712) and Jessica Morris (627/244 game). The Middle Georgia high school league stars were Antwain Deal (670/256 game) and Michael Payne (262 game).
WARNER ROBINS ACTION
Cathy Gould posted a nice 610 set in the Harris & Lynn Trophy league. Ronnie Hill’s 735 total led the Men’s Commercial league. The Mixed Misfit’s Fall leader was Ron Papizan (726). A host of high scores were recorded in the New Kids in the Alley league - Cory Damico (735), Sonja Williams (662), Carey Carter (277 game) and Mitchell Young (277 game). Topping the Town & Country group were Paul Higginbotham (774/279 game) and Devona Zodun (648). Craig Duke rolled a 277 game on Tuesday. Other men of note included Bobby Morgan (677). The best of the other lady bowlers belonged to Helga Leahy (587) and JoAnn Kovarovic (584). Leading the senior groups were Mike Mauro (663/299 game), Henry Owens (661), Jerry Hargett (608) and John Kirkendall (607). The senior youth high sets belonged to Tyler Harvey (633/256 game) and Josh Calloway (621/258 game). Conal Jackson (760 and 718), Corey Jackson (749 and 714/290 and 279 games), Kevin Dimuzio (704/299 game), Lori Phillips (658 and 630) and Arlene Todd (610 and 600) continue to score in multiple leagues.
ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE ACTION
Dave Jones rolled a 723 series in AFRC Mixed league. Leading the Intramurals were Todd Manning (717) and Kevin Young (700/277 game). Tuesday was paced by Jeff Herman (748) and Isaac Jones (279 game). Friday highs went to Matt Ross (705), Carolyn Helmick (654), Andy Lethco (279 game) and Deric Morris (276 game). Other bowlers worthy of note include Gene Legman (679) and Celena Wilson (588). Cady McRight (601/242 game) led the RYA Junior Senior youth. Bob Chamblin (738 and 706) continued his hot streak in two leagues.
TOOLS OF THE TRADE
QUESTION: I notice there are two types of tapes for the thumb hole. Which is better — the white or the black?
ANSWER: These two tapes are for completely different uses. The smooth black tape is normally used to decrease the hole diameter without causing extra drag or pulling on the thumb. The white is rough. It should be used to improve your grip of the ball and be positioned only in the front of the hole.

Ÿ The 29th annual Georgia State USBC Queens and Senior Queens Bowling Tournaments will be held fEB. 27-28, 2009, in Canton. Only singles events will be held. The entry fee is $55 per bowler per event and the deadline is Feb. 8.
Ÿ The 54th annual Georgia Women’s Championship Handicap Tournament will be held on the weekends of March 6-7 to March 20-21 in Marietta. Singles, doubles and team events will be held with an entry fee of $22 per bowler per event. The deadline is Jan. 15.
