New education dean named at Macon State

Pamela Harwood Bedwell took her place Wednesday as dean of Macon State College’s School of Education. Bedwell is a Rockingham, N.C., native and comes to Macon State from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, where she spent the past 23 years.

Most recently, she served as chair of the special and adult education department there.

Bedwell’s has a doctorate in special education from Auburn University. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Appalachian State University.

Bedwell replaces Martha Venn, the founding dean of the education school. Venn became Macon State’s vice president for academic affairs Wednesday.
