Charges pending after driver hits pedestrian, flees scene in WR

A 50-year-old Fort Valley man was injured early this morning as he was struck by a car while trying to cross Watson Boulevard on foot, according to the Warner Robins police.

Eddie Ward was walking southbound and outside the crosswalk area on his way to the Flash Foods convenience store, according to a police news release.

At the same time, 21-year-old Christopher J. Reynolds of Warner Robins was driving on Watson Boulevard near its intersection with Carl Vinson Parkway. Witnesses told police Reynolds left the scene in his vehicle after hitting Ward, according to the release. Officers quickly found Reynolds on Watson Boulevard near Nelson Drive.

Ward sustained injuries to his lower extremities and was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where he is listed in stable condition, according to the release.

Reynolds was not injured.

The collision remains under investigation and charges are pending.
