Monroe County deputies have released the name of a woman killed in a Thursday night car crash on Interstate 75.

Christine Chatfield, 59, of Macon, was driving a 1995 Buick LaSabre in the northbound lanes of I-75 near the Pea Ridge Road overpass at about 8:15 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

Chatfield’s car was stopped in the left lane and was struck from behind by a pickup driven by Kevin Darran Keenom of Warner Robins, according to the sheriff’s office.

She was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where she was pronounced dead. Keenom didn’t report that he was injured, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Although deputies initially said Chatfield’s car stalled, causing her to stop, they said this morning that it’s still unknown why the car was stopped. The accident remains under investigation, but no criminal charges are anticipated, according to the release.
