ATLANTA -- Georgia's top court has upheld a death sentence against Robert Owen Arrington.

Arrington was convicted in the 2001 beating death of his 46-year-old girlfriend, Kathy Lynn Hutchens, in Richmond County.

A bloody fingerprint matched to Arrington was found at the scene.

Monday's decision upholding the conviction and death sentence was unanimous.

The appeal argued that Georgia's death penalty was imposed in a manner that was "arbitrary and capricious."
