Crawford escapee back in jail

An escaped Crawford County jail inmate was recaptured Wednesday in Bibb County.

David Maynard Morris Jr., 36, was serving a 90-day sentence for violatomg his probation on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine when he escaped from the jail sometime between Oct. 13 and Oct. 14, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

A CrimeStoppers tip led the U.S. marshals Southeast Fugitive Task Force to a home on Tidwell Road in Lizella, where they found Morris about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Morris is charged with escape and is being held in a maximum security cell at the Crawford County jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
