No one was injured this morning when fire damaged the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house, located on North Clarke Street across from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

University spokeswoman Judy Bailey said a campus police officer spotted smoke and flames coming from the house while on patrol about 12:30 a.m.

The officer called for help from the Milledgeville fire and police departments.

Although students are living in the house this summer, Bailey said no one was at home at the time of the fire.

She said the house appears to have sustained smoke damage, but Bailey wasn’t sure this morning whether students will be able to continue living in the house this summer.

No cause for the fire has been released.
