A 43-year-old Haddock man has been convicted of raping a 16-year-old Jones County girl in 2008 after providing her with alcohol, according to the Jones County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutor Gregory Bushway said the judge sentenced Michael Lynn Turner to a sentence range of 30 years to life after a six-day trial which concluded today.

Turner’s daughter hosted a sleepover on June 16, 2008 that was attended by two other teenage girls, Bushway said.

Turner provided alcohol to the girls who consumed it and later passed out, he said.

Bushway said Turner’s daughter’s friends awoke to find Turner on top of her.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after about two hours of deliberation, he said.
