GBI investigators arrested a Montezuma woman Friday night and charged her with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of two women in Fort Valley, authorities said.

Peach County Sheriff Terry Deese said Lillian Walker, 54, is the niece of the elder victim, Lillian Graves, who was discovered Friday morning along with her daughter Agnes Stewart at their Fort Valley home on Daniel Drive. An autopsy on the two women has yet to be completed, officials said.

Deese said Walker was arrested about 11 p.m. Friday by GBI agents.

“It was a combination of evidence,” Deese said. “We’re positive we have the one who committed the crime.”

Agent Craig Rotter of the GBI’s Perry office said the motive appears to be robbery. He said there were several inconsistencies and lies when agents questioned Walker.

Rotter said Walker had been charged with forgery a few years ago.

Walker may be facing additional charges in addition to the murder charges, Rotter said. He said the investigation is ongoing.
