Wrightsville man killed in hit and run accident

A Wrightsville man was hit and killed by a fleeing motorist Tuesday night off Ga. 319 in Laurens County.

Jeffery Ford, 36, was found on North Peachtree Road about four miles south of Johnson County shortly before 9 p.m., said Sgt. Ken DeLoach of the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers have been conducting road checks in the vicinity to try to find witnesses to the accident, DeLoach said.

"There's no consistency in the leads coming in," DeLoach said.
