A Juliette man grabbed a shotgun and took aim when an intruder forced his way into a house on Juliette Road.

Marvin Bowdoin fired shots at the man who forced open his door at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and sent the invader running away, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Monroe deputies searched the area with the help of Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 units and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Authorities encouraged Bowdoin's neighbors to lock their doors and secure their vehicles as they stay alert and look for suspicious people or activity.

Anyone with information should call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 994-5267.
