Sheriff's substation to open in Twiggs County

The Twiggs County Sheriff's Office is opening a new substation to serve the north side of the county.

Chief deputy Billy Boney said the department is converting the old post office location on old Gordon Road off U.S. 80 near the Bibb County line.

"It's so far from the north end of the county to Jeffersonville," Boney said. "We worked it out that we could get that little building and it's perfect for what we'll be using it for."

The public is invited to tour the new substation Saturday at 10 a.m..
