The severe thunderstorm that lit up the Macon skyline at about 4 a.m. today is blamed for wiping out electricity for about 800 customers in the city.
Georgia Power spokeswoman Carol Boatright said lightning hit transformers and lines and caused a blackout in the neighborhoods around Broadway and Houston Avenue.
Crews have been dispatched to the area and are expected to have service restored by about 9 a.m. today.
