The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning until 5 a.m. for Bibb County and parts of north central Houston County and northeast Peach County.
At 4:07 a.m. a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was discovered 6 miles northeast of Byron moving northeast at 50 miles per hour.
Doppler radar indicated a strong rotation with this storm and is heading toward Macon, Cross Keys and Dry Branch.
Residents are urged to get in a safe area of their homes until the storm passes.
