House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, will visit Warner Robins on Wednesday for a news conference with congressional hopeful Rick Goddard, according to a Goddard campaign news release.

Boehner, who will be in Atlanta this evening for a "Victory Dinner" with state GOPers, will "make a special announcement" at the news conference, according to the release.

Campaign manager Lonnie Dietz wouldn't say what that announcement was., but said it will "provide a big boost to our campaign."

"We think the news is going to be very pertinent to Middle Georgians," he said.

The public, as well as the media, is invited. The news conference is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the E.L. Greenway Welcome Center, which is at 99 North First St. in Warner Robins.

Goddard, a retired Air Force General, is the Republican Party's nominee in the 8th Congressional District. He faces Democratic incumbent, U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall, in November's general election.
